    When are they needed?

    Pilot cars are necessary to ensure the safety of road users when transporting large outsize cargo, such as equipment, production lines, dangerous goods, special equipment, and other cargo in cases as provided by applicable law of the Russian Federation:

• the transported cargo has a length of more than 350 cm;
• the length of the transport motor column is more than 24 meters;
• the height of the road train from the ground exceeds 450 cm;
• dangerous goods are transported;
• a vehicle is under a load excessing established standards while transporting.

    There are cases when the motor column must be escorted by traffic police vehicles.
